Reflect Respect!

How you choose to dress reflects how you feel about your job – that you take your position seriously, that you are ready to work, and that you pay attention to detail.   When we assign you to a case, how you choose to dress is also a reflection of All Metro.

Your wardrobe is somewhat limited when you work in the healthcare industry.  You may want to roll out of bed and throw on any old outfit because you’ll just be around patients all day or, you may want to put on the type of outfit that really lets your personality shine through.  However, your patients, their families, and your colleagues are watching and appearances really do matter.

With today’s wide variety of fashion trends it is impossible to describe every article of proper dress. Common sense is really the key to a professional appearance, but a quick reminder of some items not to wear is as follows:

  • Halter tops
  • Tank tops
  • T-shirts with derogatory graphics or writing
  • Revealing/low cut dresses
  • Sportswear
  • Spandex
  • Hats, bandannas, and headdresses that are not part of religious attire
  • Jewelry that prevents the effective practice of universal precautions or any other safety procedure
  • Clogs, high heels, flip-flops

What you wear has a bigger impact than you think – it supports or detracts from your image and from what patients expect from you; it also supports or detracts from the All Metro image and from what patients expect from the company.

Please ask yourself before your shift begins if the image you are projecting is the intelligent and competent healthcare worker you are.  Err on the side of conservative attire.  We are counting on you to recognize your responsibilities and to present yourself in an acceptable manner.
